Herr Bander, shown below is the initiator of an annual street party in Trills. The evAt first I thought that it would be a very small event. But when I arrived two days before I ent is well attended with the Street filled to capacity and hundreds of people attending the exhibits which includes the story of Jim McPhee's crew falling from the sky in Trills.

Below: Herr Bander at the Trills Exhibition wearing a Canada T-Shirt. Herr Bander was 6 years old when Jim McPhee landed on the roof. Herr Bander presented Jim McPhee with a monogrammed handkerchief that his sister had made from part of the parachute. Through his early childhood he was always apprehensive that the soldier might come back and get him. Jim McPhee reflects that he was Herr Bander's personal boogie man! The project of discovering the history of the plane and its crew has created warm relationships on both sides of the ocean.
