This image from Library and Archives Canada shows a young airman checking his image in a mirror placed there by authorities for that purpose.

The sign adjacent to the mirror urges the airmen to check for the angle of the cap and the placement precisely one inch above the eye.

The instructions include brass and boots highly polished and correct, and uniform clean, and neatly pressed all in accordance with regs.

In the background one can see the buildings of a typical Manning Depot, although the location is not stated by the Archives. .
