Back to UK Bases Page

Allerton Park castle is located between York and Harrogate in North Yorkshire. Scroll down to see the location of the park below. It was requisitioned by the Air Ministry from Lord Mowbray early in the war. The castle was transformed into the headquarters of the Canadian 6 Group Bomber Command, which had been operating at a temporary site at Linton on Ouse. The 6 Group officially reached operational status at 00.01 on Jan 1,1943.

The castle survived the war, a fire and is now an event facility, used for Dining, weddings, conferences and other events. See a recent photo of the restored Castle below.
