A monument on Freundstein

"En leur mémoire, le témoignage de notre gratitude" (In their memory, testament of our gratitude) Photo Bruno Marchal, 2007

This beautiful, moody grey photo of the crash site and monument was provided courtesy of Al Mallory, son of F/Sgt Lorne Mallory. It was taken by Bruno Marchal, Montreal, Quebec in November, 2007. The angle and time of year are similar to the actual crash site. The image displays the massive two ton granite monument, with Squadron 433 Porcupine crest and engraving of the memorial.

The image below was supplied courtesy of Robert and Frances Togneri, who wrote:
"Earlier this year we were exploring the Rue de Crete in France. We came
across this memorial and recognised the name of Mallory having read an
account of his escape years ago. It is located at Latitude 47 deg 51'55.7"
Longitude 7 deg 7'32.3". Feel free to use it if you wish."
