This happy photo was supplied by Norma Catherine Bullough-Claudet. In the accompanying note to Susan Campbell, she writes, "
Herewith the photo which I think is very special as it portrays, unlike official photos,  the relief and joy of the men.
It was taken on 22nd May 1945 at a party given by the Transport Section to celebrate V E Day  (Victory in Europe).  The men's faces reflect the sheer relief and joy of knowing they will not go on any more terrifyingly dangerous operations and that the whole squadron will soon leave for home and be reunited with their loved ones. I hope that whoever scans this photo in a search for a loved face  will see the happiness that the end to the war  brought to their "boys".
I have tried to remember some names but even all the girls I worked with only bring some Christian names back even though most of their  faces are very familiar. I can remember the name of the chap I am standing with in the centre of the picture as
Glen Campbell (there's a coincidence).
I know you can't help but enjoy it." In a characteristic flash of humor, she adds "I know my cupboards are a lot tidier after the search.".
